What is meant by 'farming'? - Guild Wars Forums

I've read a few threads on how to make money quickly, but they keep referring to 'farming', and I'm not quite sure what this means. Can anbody help?

Is going to an area repeatedly for its drops.

But I don't really find any reason to farm, with both my chars selling everysingle drop to npc. Only buying the Ascalon armor, at ascencion I end up with 20 plat.
